Good news: the Filipino Readers’ Choice Awards is returning this year!

The FRCA has found its new home with the Book Development Association of the Philippines (BDAP). Adopting the FRCA means that BDAP will be including it in its regular programming, holding the award every other year, alternately with BDAP’s Gintong Aklat Awards.

Because we are making up for seven years of lost time, we will be handing out two batches of awards for FRCA 2022:

First batch: titles published in 2015-2018

Second batch: titles published in 2019-2021

2022 FILIPINO READERS’ CHOICE AWARDS SCHEDULE

PHASE 1: NOMINATIONS

The official nomination form will be sent out to publishers via email by July 29, 2022.  Publishers may nominate any qualifying book in any of the categories, under the appropriate batch (published 2015-2018 or published 2019-2021).

If you are a publisher or self-published author and would like to submit an official nomination form, kindly send an email to filipinoreaderschoice@gmail.com.

The schedule of public nominations will be announced. To nominate a book, just fill out the online nomination form here. The nomination form gets sent to the FRCA committee.

PHASE 2: PUBLIC VOTING

At the end of the nomination period, an online ballot will be posted on the FRCA page on the BDAP website. Each individual voter can choose only one (1) title per category, but may also opt to skip voting for other categories. The requirement for voting is a valid email address. Only one entry or vote per email address will be accepted. Should we receive more than one entry from an email address, we will accept only the latest entry.  After the voting period, the Filipino Readers Choice Awards committee will then come up with a shortlist of finalists for the awards, based on the tally of votes sent in by readers. The top three (3) nominations per category will be included in the shortlist and considered finalists.

The finalists for the awards will be announced on the website.

PHASE 3: PANEL JUDGING

The finalists will be deliberated upon by a panel composed of members of various Filipino book groups and reading communities.

AWARDING

The winners of the 2022 Filipino Readers’ Choice Awards will be announced in November.

Winning authors and publishers will receive an award, and the right to use the Filipino Readers’ Choice Awards seal on their books.
